How Can We Help You?

Request Service for High Mosquito Activity

If you're experiencing a high number of mosquitoes around your home or property, you can request service.

  • A technician will contact you within 3 business days of your request.
  • During the visit, we will inspect your property for mosquito sources and eliminate any we find.
  • We'll provide tips on preventing bites and what sources to watch for.
  • If needed, your property will be treated to reduce mosquito populations.
Report Unmaintained Swimming Pools

Unmaintained pools can produce up to 3 million mosquitoes in one month, creating a serious risk for the transmission of West Nile virus. This includes in-ground swimming pools, kiddie pools, and above-ground pools that are dirty, even if the pool is only holding a small amount of water.

  • You may request help with your own pool or report an unmaintained pool nearby.
  • Reports can be made anonymously. Even if you provide your name, we never disclose the source of a tip.
  • Pool inspections and treatments are completely free to all Merced County residents.
Request Mosquitofish

Mosquitofish are natural predators of mosquito larvae and help keep certain water features mosquito-free. We provide mosquitofish at no cost for:

  • Animal water troughs
  • Ornamental ponds (without existing fish)
  • Unfiltered fountains

Please note: Because mosquitofish are not native, we cannot place them in rivers, canals, creeks, or any body of water that flows into natural waterways.

Report a Dead Bird

Dead birds, specifically corvids (crows, ravens, jays, magpies, etc.), can be an early sign of West Nile virus activity in an area.

  • Dead birds must be reported to the Vector-Borne Disease Section of the California Department of Public Health (CDPH).
  • If the bird is eligible for testing and needs to be picked up, CDPH will contact us to collect it.
  • Birds are tested to help with disease surveillance and to target mosquito control efforts where they are most needed.
